BPW and OWL are pretty much a dead end since 1995 when Delphi 1 came out. I haven't seen any activity in those libs for years, if not over a decade.

Upgrading them means changing to either win32/64 API, or the Delphi VCL (Lazarus LCL).

No, I went straight from Dos based BP to the Delphi dialects (in VP, Lazarus/FPC and Delphi). I skipped the 16-bit Windows entirely.

I think the GUI will need a complete rewrite.

Hello Mr Agbachi,

There is only a French-version of the tutorial, which I never could get to the end until now. :(

But I'm ready to give help if you need it.

Bye for now,

Hi Mr Agbachi,

You can get the compiled units here :

Uncompress them in \out.w32\units.

Best regards,

Dear Mr Agbachi,

The target platform must be first set to Win32 in the "Compile" menu.

In general I would go for Free Pascal Lazarus. OWL code is to my best knowledge dead though, in both FPC and Delphi.

As for Delphi->Lazarus/FPC conversion, that depends highly on the contents of the project. There is not much general that can be said about that.

Hi Marco

Thanks a lot. Well, I am no longer addicted to OWL. I started some work in Delphi and found that some tasks that would have been more difficult were suddenly easy to accomplish. I still have a long way though, but I am now fully on board Delphi-Lazarus bandwagon.
